An Update // My 2017 Highs

I made this beast of a biscoff cake for a friends hubby which preceded a night out, our first evening out together since having Wilf.

We celebrated Dunc’s birthday with all of the presents, homemade cake and a trip to sunny but cold Weymouth where we did alot of walking and ate alot of pizza.

Encountered a long weekend of highs and lows. It started with a friends wedding at River Cottage. Wilf’s first and Dunc was usher. And ended with my return to work and Wilf’s first day at nursery.

Later in the month we celebrated my first mothers day by taking Wilf on our favourite walk.

Our first whole night away from Wilf at a different wedding, followed by a family lunch and all of the Easter chocolates.

We also started to make some progress on our garden.

We watched our baby turn one. We had the best day on the best beach and a special party that same weekend. Need I say more?

France baby! We have never really had funds that have allowed us to travel much. Sure we have had several holidays and even a few abroad, but they are real treats. So to be able to take our little man abroad, soak up some sunshine, enjoy a different culture, catch up with old friends, stay in an amazing chalet and watch friends get married all in one long weekend. Sign us up!

Another highlight was of course one sunny day back home where we met our new neice and after I attended my first pottery lesson.

July was mostly about enjoying as much time outdoors as a family as we could. It was also the month in which Wilf took his first steps and when we had not one but two evenings out, just us, just because.

We enjoyed lots of homegrown fruit this month and I painted the living room (yes we still have to hang the pictures back up).

We had our annual holiday to Cornwall in September and visited virtually everywhere in the county. From Portwrinkle to Porthleven, from Porthcurno to Polzeath. Okay well lots of coastal resorts beginning with the letter ‘P’.

I also collected my first proper bits of pottery from the kiln.

I really embraced Autumn this year and got Wilf outside as much as I could.

What else happened, oh yeh, we got engaged!

My birthday month. Quiet celebrations this year. My favourite thing about Novemeber this year was how sunny it was. This meant lots of outdoors adventures with my boys. Including fireworks night on our favourite beach.

How quickly it rolled around. More festivities and time spent with both friends and family. But also some time spent reflecting.

What a year. I feel incredibly lucky. There have definitely been some tricky times too but we are fortunate in so many ways. I cannot wait to find out what 2018 will bring our way.
