I wanted to give you a tour of our living room (lounge??!!) using just photos from my instagram page. I thought this would be a good way to show you snippets of the room, before a more detailed post.
I really thought that we would have finished rooms by now, but as it turns out, things have taken longer.
We have done a lot in this room, it’s probably the most styled room in the house with accessories and several furnture updates. However that is because the room has never looked just right.
I really want to get on top of this, especially as I am already spending so much time in here with the little man during the day. I want to be in a relaxing environment.
This is the only room where we’ve already committed to lots of prints, pictures, etc on the walls, as you can see from some of my instagram posts this year…
We also have some prints above the sofa, but so much of the wall space still feels so bare, I need to work out what the room needs, maybe I need to be bolder with bigger prints?
I also have alot of greenery going on in the room, I have gained some success since we moved in on the keeping plants alive front and am always switching things up and
As you can see I don’t have a fixed style when ln it comes to pots and vases. I use different colours, materials and like to mix up using regular vases with using kilner jars which I just really like the look of. I also use flowers as decoration for different occassions, as you can see from the Easter picture.
I really wanted this room to feel warm and knew before we even picked up the keys that I would use copper accents to do this. Our colour scheme is grey and mustard yellow and I think the copper blends in well…
We have a copper lamp, copper lanterns, some copper wall details including this bourbon print and wire house shelf and other details such as the copper ‘M’ and plant pots. I love how I can switch up alot of the smaller accessories and move things around.
We had a plain, empty alcove in the corner of the room which we painted mustard yellow and filled with shelves for some of our favourite and most decorative books, along with plants and photos, etc…
I love the contrast of the yellow against the white walls. The colour looks so different at different times of day and in different light. It also bounces off the white wall and creates a lovely, warm corner of the room.
So there you have it. Snippets of our living room, and once I am happier with the space as a whole, I will show you more, so keep your eyes peeled!
If you want to know where I bought any of the items, please leave a comment below.
